The English star is confidently assuming the leadership role at Chelsea and the English national team with ample merit.

The most valuable (MVP) player of the final and the expanded Club World Cup overall was 23-year-old Cole Palmer. The left-footed attacking midfielder who played a special role in the final against Paris Saint-Germain. He "unfolded" his virtues and was rightly praised by "enemies and friends". Two goals and an assist essentially determined the winner and gave a blue "shade" to the first trophy of the new expanded FIFA competition.

Cole Palmer was born on 6 May 2002 in a suburb of Manchester. He joined Manchester City from the under-8s and was a member of all the academy's age groups, before becoming captain of the club's under-18s during the 2019–20 season. Palmer was privately educated at St Veda's College.

On 30 September 2020, Palmer made his debut for City's men's team, in a 3–0 win over Burnley in the fourth round of the EFL Cup.

On 1 September 2023, Palmer signed a seven-year contract with Chelsea, with the option to extend for a further year. The transfer fee was initially reported to be around £40 million, with £2.5 million in add-ons.

The 23-year-old English midfielder did not navigate uncharted "waters". He has done it again this year and in the past. He is a player of big and difficult matches. Where adrenaline is at its peak, it "paralyzes" and "disarms" quite a few notable footballers. But not him!.

The ball does not "burn" for Palmer. Here he greeted US President Donald Trump almost from above at the medal ceremony. Of course, as he stated, he felt a shock but was not affected at all.

Palmer, to whom the new German coach of England, Thomas Tuchel, is expected to give a significant role and direct his teammates. He has only conceded two goals in the previous 29 games and the prolonged decline in his performance in the winter almost cost Chelsea its participation in the UEFA Champions League Phase of the new season.

Cole Palmer has scored 18 goals and provided 14 assists in 52 games this season. He could have done much better given his potential. However, his contributions to the club's two cups this season, the Conference League (two assists in the final in Wroclaw against Betis) and the Club World Cup, fit the description of a "born winner".

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca was not surprised by Palmer's decisive performance: "Yes, these are the games we expect Cole to appear in, because they are big games, big moments, and once again, I think he showed how good he is".

The Chelsea star himself said: "I love finals and this happened again, obviously it's a great feeling".

The Club World Cup triumph over Paris was the sixth final of Palmer's career and the 23-year-old has now established himself as the club's most prolific goalscorer, with eight goals and three assists in six finals, averaging an impressive 1.68 goals and assists per 90 minutes. The English midfielder has been involved in six goals in the last three finals for the Londoners, earning the man of the match award in both the Conference League final against Real Betis and the New Jersey final against Paris Saint-Germain. His is also the goal in the Euro 2024 final for England (2-1 defeat by Spain).

The first two important matches where Cole Palmer played were with the Manchester City jersey. Goal against Arsenal in the Community Shield and goal against Sevilla in the European Super Cup, in August 2023 at the Karaiskakis Stadium.

The only final in which Palmer did not participate in a goal was Chelsea's 1-0 defeat by Liverpool in the League Cup in 2024. The goal in extra time (118′), Van Dijk from a Tsimikas corner. The fact is that Chelsea now has a LEADER for the next several years, as does the England national team...
