Lamine Yamal the first in the 21st century to score a hat-trick at such a young age
Lamine Yamal made history against Villarreal in a great match in which he scored 3 goals in La Liga.
Lamine Yamal was Barcelona's absolute leader in the 4-1 win over Villarreal that sent them to +4 from second-placed Real, with the Spanish international midfielder scoring the first three goals for Hansi Flick's team and signing the "13 out of 13" he has at home in La Liga this year.
Yamal celebrated this achievement at the age of 18 years and 230 days, taking the record from Dos Santos who had a hat-trick against Murcia at the age of 19 years and 6 days while becoming only the 6th footballer in the history of La Liga to score three goals in a match while being under the age of 19 (the last one to achieve it was 59 years ago).
Lamine Yamal had to score three games for Barcelona, but he got his… blood back - and more - in the most important match of the 26th matchday of the Spanish championship. “Barça” crushed 3rd-placed Villarreal 4-1, thanks to a historic hat-trick from the “blaugrana” and Spanish football prodigy, the promising Lamina Yamal, escaping to +4 from second-placed Real Madrid (playing on Monday).
Yamal scored the first hat-trick of his career and with this became the youngest footballer in Barcelona history to achieve such a feat. At the same time, he became the first under-19 player in the history of the Spanish league to score a hat-trick after 59 years, and overall he became the third youngest player in history to score a hat-trick in La Liga, scoring it at the age of 18 years and 230 days, while he is also the youngest to achieve this feat in the 21st century!
With these 3 goals, he surpassed 100 “participations” in goals (i.e. goals and assists together) in his career at the age of just 18. At the moment, in 166 career goals, the young winger has recorded 49 goals and 52 assists, with Barcelona and the Spanish National Team.
Lamine Yamal (18 years and 230 days) is the SIXTH player under 19 to score a hat-trick in the ENTIRE history of La Liga:
