The german international, will play his fourth World Cup in search of increasing his goalscoring flow

Thomas Muller with Germany in Euro 2020 past

Germany's 'silent executioner' Thomas Müller prepares for his 4th World Cup with the "Panthers", starting the tournament in Qatar at the top of the final World Cup scorers' list for players who have will take part in this year's event.

Of the 831 footballers who will be present in the Arab country's stadiums, the 33-year-old Bayern Munich ace is the (current) footballer who has scored the most goals in the final phase of the World Cup, having scored a total of 10 goals in 16 matches, in the three previous competitions he took part in (2010 South Africa, 2014 Brazil, 2018 Russia).

In fact, Muller is currently in 8th place among the scorers of all time in the World Cup (from 1930 to 2018) and has the opportunity in Qatar to raise his performance even further, passing football "legends" such as the Hungarian Sandor Kocsis and his compatriot Jurgen Klinsman (11 goals each). The inimitable Pele (12 goals), the stormy Just Fontaine (13 goals, all in 6 matches in one competition, a record performance to this day) or his imposing namesake Gerd Müller (14 goals in 13 matches).

If, however, the "big wolf" ace of Bayern Munich holds the... tournament of his life, he can approach two other legendary scorers, the Brazilian Ronaldo (the "phenomenon") who has scored 15 goals in 19 matches (4 competitions ) and the all-time leading scorer at the World Cup, Germany's Miroslav Klose, who reached 16 goals in 24 matches (4 tournaments).

Behind Muller, in the list of active players who will take part in this year's World Cup are the Uruguayan Luis Suarez (7 goals) and the great Cristiano Ronaldo (7 goals), followed by Lionel Messi (Argentina), Neymar ( Brazil) and Harry Kane (England) who count 6 goals each.
