"It will be a different Inter in Munich against PSG," says Massimiliano Farris
Farris assistant coach of Simone Inzaghi in Inter Milan from 2021, speak about the Serie A season, the Napoli´s tittle and the UEFA Champions League final against PSG.
Inter finally failed to successfully defend its title as Italian champion this season, although it certainly fought as hard as it could. Perhaps in some games, either due to bad luck or negligence, it failed to get the 3 points, and thus ended up 1 point behind Antonio Conte's Napoli, which celebrated winning the Scudetto for the 4th time in its history.
But its competitive obligations were not completed. Quite the opposite. On Saturday, May 31, it has the great
UEFA Champions League final against
Paris Saint-Germain ahead of it.
So it must put aside what happened in the Italian championship and focus on the difficult game that follows. Simone Inzaghi's assistant coach Massimiliano Farris put it bluntly:
"The mood reflects a team that has fulfilled its obligations. It is sad because it has been a long and difficult journey, and we have let the title slip away," said Faris. He added, "However, the sporting ethic drives us and we must cheer for Napoli. They are a strong team, and we wish them all the best for the future."
54-year-old Massimiliano Farris, a former full-back, continues: "Football often offers immediate opportunities to achieve dreams. This season we have embarked on an extraordinary adventure in the Champions League, and we are determined to seize the opportunity to win this top trophy."
Lautaro Martinez and Thuram return
Mr. Farris then defended Simone Inzaghi's decision to rest key players such as Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram.
"We have put together a competitive team for the match against Como. Congratulations to Como and Fabregas for their efforts. Our intention was to avoid putting our stars at risk, and the rotation strategy was designed to keep them in top condition for Munich," he explained.
Confidence remains high in the team, especially after navigating a difficult season against some of Europe's top teams.
Mr. Farris recalled their experiences against teams such as Manchester City, Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Barcelona, stating, "We are ready for whatever awaits us. We have technical leaders who will guide us as we pursue this wonderful dream."
It is worth noting that Massimiliano Farris as a footballer (1987-2009) played for 18 teams!. In May 2021, Farris moved along with Inzaghi to Inter Milan where he became the assistant coach. On 27 October of the same year, Farris stood in for Inzaghi in a 2–0 win over Empoli, following Inzaghi's suspension due to a red card.
On 12 February 2022, he stood in for Inzaghi in a 1–1 draw against Napoli and praised his team's mentality. On 26 October of the same year, he stood in for Inzaghi in a 4–0 Champions League victory over Viktoria Plzen which secured Inter's place in the round of 16, following Inzaghi's suspension due to a red card.
On 10 February 2024, Farris stood in for Inzaghi in a 4–2 win over Roma at the Stadio Olimpico. Farris is a supporter of Inter Milan. He and his wife have three daughters.
