RB Leipzig and American trainer have agreed to end their collaboration, after a bad start to the season, as announced  by the German club.

Jesse Marsch RB Leipzig head coach

The third consecutive defeat that Leipzig suffered on Friday (with 2-1 from Union) overflowed the glass for the fans of the team. And it was logical that the strong disapproval of the former international American football player and now coach, Jesse Marsch, should lead the management to take extraordinary measures. She terminated her collaboration with Marsch, who was not present in the game due to the quarantine for Covid-19.

RB Leipzig and Jesse Marsch have agreed to end their collaboration, after a bad start to the season, as announced  by the German club.

RB Leipzig suffered a 2-1 defeat by Union Berlin on Friday, third in a row that led them to 11th place, accumulating pressure on American Marsch, who was not in the race due to quarantine for Covid-19.

Assistant coach Achim Beierlorzer  will take over for their home match against Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League, in an event from which he has already been eliminated.

Marsch, who moved to Leipzig this summer to replace Julian Nagelsmann (he went to Bayern Munich) has so far seen his side win just 5 points from their 14 league games this season.

"Leipzig and coach Jesse Mars have agreed to part ways. "The decision is the result of an in-depth analysis and intensive discussions after the Bundesliga match with the Berlin Union", said the German club.

As the former coach of sister club Red Bull Salzburg, he wanted to move away from possession of the ball to the typical RB pressing soccer ball. But a clear concept was rarely seen on the pitch, and Marsch found no solutions to the enormous fluctuations in performance of the heavily occupied squad.

"The separation from Jesse Marsch was not easy for us, because I really appreciate Jesse as a person and a coach. It is a shame that it did not work out as hoped in this constellation and that this step has now become necessary because unfortunately the desired development and thus also the necessary results for our season goals have not been achieved, " said Oliver Mintzlaff, CEO of RB, commenting on the decision.
