In fact, the Chelsea people were so annoyed by the fact that they lost Ngumohoa, that they went so far as to forbid Liverpool scouts from watching games of the Blues' Academies.
He had managed to stand out in training
Dutch coach Arne Slot took the 16-year-old to Liverpool's training camp and he grabbed the opportunity by the hair. In the four friendlies he has played in, he has managed to score two goals and provide two assists, making himself a fixture in the Dutch manager's plans.
As soon as he turns 17, in a few days, Ngumoha is expected to sign his first professional contract with Liverpool. In fact, the two sides are already in contact and the deal is only a matter of time.
"We've only played two games here and we haven't played Premier League opponents yet, but I see him training, I see him playing and the impact he has when he trains and plays is really promising," said Slott after Liverpool's second friendly.
"He's definitely a player who shows that if he continues to perform like this, it certainly won't be the last time he plays a few minutes for Liverpool. It's all about consistency. He has to show it every day we're on the pitch."
