Pep Guardiola, head coach of Manchester City

The national coach of the England team, Gareth Southgate, ahead of the two matches of the qualifying phase of Euro 2024 against Poland (7/9) and Ukraine (09/09), left out Jack Grealish and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Champions Manchester City's left-sided midfielder and Liverpool's right-back traveled to St George's Park, the training ground of the "Three Lions", but as the FA points out in its update, "both players have withdrawn from the trip following tests which submitted and which showed that they are facing injury problems.

Grealish did not play in Manchester City's 5-1 win over Fulham on Saturday (02/09), while Alexander-Arnold picked up a hamstring injury in the Reds' 3-0 win over Aston Villa, on Sunday (03/09).

The national coach, Gareth Southgate, does not intend to call other players in the positions of the two aforementioned.

The English dominate Group 3 with four wins from as many matches and are six points ahead of their next opponents, Ukraine (with a game in hand), who they will face on Saturday (09/09, 18:00) in Wroclaw.

The friendly against Scotland will follow on September 12 (20:45) in Glasgow.

They want Guardiola

Meanwhile, the English federation wants Pep Guardiola on the bench of the national team! According to a report from the "Daily Mail" newspaper, Gareth Southgate, is expected to leave after next summer's Euro 2024 and Guardiola, is at the top of the federation's list.

In fact, in the relevant report it is stated that Southgate, who has recently been faced with harsh criticism, is expected to leave and the federation is examining the case of the Catalan coach of Manchester City, who has a contract with the English champions until the summer of 2025. But of course the issue is what the citizens' administration will say...
