The Catalan team in recent years has paid 30 million euros in compensation

Xavi Hernández FC Barcelona new head coach

Definitely and irrevocably from the early morning hours of Saturday (6/11) Xavi is the new coach of Barcelona, as officially announced by the management of the big club of Catalonia. It was essentially "the chronicle of a pre-announced marriage", as the two parties had already agreed and were just waiting for Al Sadd's consent, who finally said "yes" after previously receiving the amount in the relevant clause of her contract with the Spanish midfielder and which amounts to 5 million euros.

The Spaniard returns to his great love as a coach this time. After all, he was one of the top midfielders of all time, a footballer who left an indelible mark on Barcelona.

"It's time to go home. Welcome, Xavi. It was not a farewell, it was on the way again ", it is mentioned in the relevant post on the Twitter of the" blaugrana ", which is accompanied by a video with snapshots from the departure of the young coach from Barcelona, in 2015.

Xavi's presentation is scheduled for next Monday (08/11), while his debut on the Barcelona bench will take place on November 20 in the traditional derby against Espanyol. The new coach of the Catalans, addressing the fans of his favorite team, wrote characteristically in a post on Instagram.

"Dear Culers (s.s. the nickname of the fans), I'm coming home. I return to the place that saw me grow up, I return to the club of my life. I cannot describe in words the emotion I feel in the thought of returning, to defend this signal that I have engraved in my heart, to feel the Camp Nou vibrating from within and to hear the applause of this audience. I know I'm coming at a difficult time, but I face this challenge with the greatest illusions. I will work and fight as a human being to achieve the position we deserve together. Thanks to Barcelona for trusting me again and to all the fans who believed I had to take on this important role. The story goes on "...

In the meantime, it is worth noting that Barcelona had to spend around 30 million euros on coaches, after the departure of Luis Enrique in 2017, to compensate or even hire Ernesto Valverde, Kike Setien, Ronald Koeman and now Xavi.

Al-Sadd's announcement clarified that as stipulated in the contract, Xavi will carry out various promotions as ambassador to Qatar until he reaches an amount equivalent to these 2.5 million, while the other 2.5 will be given by Barcelona.

In fact, as reported by the Spanish television "Cuatro", at the moment the settlements are pending with Kike Setien with whom there is a legal dispute (he asks for 4 million euros), but also with Ronald Koeman with whom the Catalans are negotiating the financial terms of the dismissal. with the Dutchman asking for 12 million euros.

Xavi joined Al Sadd in 2015, initially as a footballer, following his departure from Barcelona. After hanging up his boots in 2019, he took over as coach and led his team to a total of seven titles in two seasons. Now a new day is dawning for Xavi and Barcelona…
