The Brazilian winger was named the best footballer in the world at the FIFA event held in Doha, Qatar

The Golden Ball to Rodri, The Best award to Vinicius! The Brazilian winger was named the best footballer in the world at the FIFA event held in Doha, Qatar, after an impressive season with Real Madrid where he won the Championship and the Champions League.

So he may have lost the Golden Ball (the noblest and most important individual award in the world) in early October, but on Tuesday, December 17, he won the FIFA The Best Awards as the best footballer in the world!.

The “Golden Ball” had ended up in the hands of Manchester City’s Spanish midfielder, Rodri. However, in the awards organized by the World Confederation, Vinicius Junior was named the winner for 2024.

The Brazilian striker may have missed out on the ultimate individual distinction by finishing in second place in the voting, but he made... a comeback at The Best awards.

This is certainly another achievement for the Brazilian, who last season... swept with Real Madrid, winning the Champions League, La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup.

We remind you that the relevant vote was taken by footballers, coaches and fans, who nominated the Brazilian star of Real as the No.1 on the planet.

The award ceremony was held by FIFA president Gianni Infantino, with Vinicius this time attending to receive the award in Doha, where the Real Madrid team is currently waiting for the final in the Intercontinental Cup against Pachuca (18/12).

Vinicius took first place with 48 votes, Rodri came in second with a total of 43 votes, while Jude Bellingham completed the podium with 37.

Messi voted for Yamal

Meanwhile, Lionel Messi, as captain of the Argentina national team, did not choose Rodri, Vinicius or Bellingham for the top spot, but showed his love for the Blaugrana by voting for Yamal!

After all, there are many times that Messi has dripped… honey when talking about the wonder kid, 17-year-old Lamine Yamal. The Argentine superstar even voted him for the top player in the FIFA The Best awards.

Goalkeeper Martinez

Another distinction for Emiliano Martinez! The Argentine goalkeeper was named the best goalkeeper in the world for 2024, capitalizing on his impressive performances with Aston Villa and the Argentina national team in the best way.

During the season that ended, Martinez was part of the impressive Aston Villa that reached the top four of the Premier League, while he lifted the Copa America with the Argentine national team in the summer of 2024.

Best coach

Italian, Carlo Ancelotti was named the best coach for 2024 at the FIFA The Best awards, confirming his title as the "architect" of Real Madrid.

Ancelotti managed to create an unstoppable Real Madrid in the 2023/2024 season, which won La Liga, the Spanish Super Cup and the Queen's 15th Champions League was honored by the FIFA awards.

The top 11 is made up of: Emiliano Martinez- Dani Carvajal, Antonio Rudiger, Ruben Diaz, William Saliba- Jude Bellingham, Rodri, Toni Kroos- Lamina Jamal, Erling Haaland, Vinicius

Garnacho wins the Puskas award

The top goal of the season was that of Alejandro Garnacho against Everton. The Argentine winger scored with an incredible curling shot in Manchester United's game against the Toffees, reminiscent of the one Wayne Rooney had achieved against Manchester City.

A year later, the Argentine's inspiration was finally distinguished at the "The Best" awards organized by FIFA, taking home the Puskas award for the best goal.

Bonmati again in the women's category

As for the FIFA The Best 2024 awards, the following stood out for women: Alyssa Naeher, Marta and Aitana Bonmati.

Aitana Bonmati, the star of Barcelona and the Spanish National Team, was named the Best Female Footballer in the World, winning the FIFA The Best award. Her outstanding performance both at the club and international level made her an undisputed choice for this distinction.

The awards:

Alyssa Naeher, goalkeeper of the US Women's National Team, stood out for her outstanding performances over the past year, winning the FIFA The Best award for the best goalkeeper in the world.

Marta, a Brazilian footballer, won the Marta Award for the best goal of the year, with a stunning performance in Brazil's match against Jamaica.
