The stars of Liverpool and Man City are the big favorites to win the award for best player of the season in the Premier League

Mohamed Salah & Kevin de Bruyne

As the football season in the Premier League comes to an end, we will again have the top footballer of the season. Last year was the Portuguese central defender of Manchester City, Ruben Dias.

This year, the candidates are the Liverpool winger, Mohamed Salah, who has made and continues to make amazing appearances, and the Manchester City playmaker, Kevin De Bruyne. These two footballers are presented as the big favorites, among the eight nominees for the "Footballer of the Season" award in the Premier League.

Salah is the top scorer in the league with 22 goals, while he also has 13 assists, and De Bruyne is fourth in the scorers' table with 15 goals and seven assists.

Both Salah and De Bruyne have won the award in the past, the 2017-18 and 2019-20 seasons respectively.

The other candidates are: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Joao Cancello (City), Jarrod Bowen (West Ham), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Sean Heung-Min (Tottenham) and  James  Ward-Prowse ( Southampton).

The manager

Meanwhile the likes of Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola have barely put a foot wrong all season and they have ensured the title race is going right down to the wire. However, the likes of Eddie Howe, David Moyes and Mikel Arteta all deserve credit as well, so you would think they could all be nominated for Manager of the Season. ast year, the nominees for Manager of the Season weren’t announced until early June, so you would expect this year’s award to be announced at a similar time.

Guardiola was then announced as the winner just four days later, so the turnaround for this award was very quick. The handpicked panel selects the nominees and the eventual winner. Last year, this included the likes of Jamie Carragher, Rio Ferdinand, Gary Neville and Alan Shearer.

However, it is unclear who will be on the panel this year, but that should be announced at some point in the near future.

8 Nominees for the Young

In the end we have and  the 8  nominees for the Young Player of the 2021/22 Season.

The eight players are Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal) , Phil Foden (Man. City), Conor Gallagher (Crystal Palace) , Tyrick Mitchell (Crystal Palace) , Mason Mount (Chelsea), Aaron Ramsdale (Arsenal)  and Declan Rice (Wedt Ham).
