Kylian Mbappe's greatest moments

Manos Staramopoulos • 21 de junio de 2026

Four football`s greatest moments for great French talent in his international career with France.

Kylian Mbappe made history for the French national team, as his two goals in the 3-1 victory over Senegal in the "blues"'s opening match at the 2026 World Cup took him to 58 goals and became the national team's all-time top scorer, surpassing Olivier Giroud (57).

At 27, the France captain continues to break records, and with 14 goals in the final stages of the World Cup, he is now approaching the peak performances of Germany's Miroslav Klose and Argentina's Lionel Messi, who each have 16. Here are some of the most emblematic moments of his career with the "tricolors":

The first goal (August 31, 2017): France - Netherlands 4-0

At the age of 18 and the day he completed his transfer from Monaco to Paris Saint-Germain, Mbappe scored his first goal with the national team. Coming on as a substitute in the 75th minute, he made the final 4-0 in injury time, after combining with Djibril Sidibe.

The revelation (June 30, 2018): France - Argentina 4-3

In the round of 16 match of the World Cup in Russia, the then young striker introduced himself to the world football audience. After winning the penalty for the first French goal, he scored two goals in four minutes, leading France to qualify against Lionel Messi's Argentina.

His favorite (July 15, 2018): France - Croatia 4-2

In the World Cup final in Russia, Mbappe scored France's fourth goal with a powerful shot from outside the area, "sealing" the victory of the trophy. He also became the youngest player to score in a World Cup final since Pele.

The highlight outside the World Cup (October 10, 2021): France - Spain 2-1

In the Nations League final, Mbappe played a decisive role in the upset against Spain. He first created the equalizer for Karim Benzema and then scored the winning goal, giving France the title. The unfinished masterpiece (December 18, 2022): Argentina - France 3-3 (4-2 on penalties).

In the final of the World Cup in Qatar, Mbappe put in one of the greatest performances in the history of the competition. With two goals in 97 seconds, he sent the match to extra time, while with a well-aimed penalty he also shaped the final 3-3.

Despite France's defeat on penalties, Mbappe became only the second footballer to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final, after England's Geoff Hurst in 1966, adding another historic page to his already illustrious career.
