Bayern Munich's Michael Olise future in doubt
Several European giants clubs want Bayern's great star French, but the German club is reluctant to let him go.
Michael Olise has been a subject of summer transfer speculation for months. Liverpool and Real Madrid are said to be the main clubs interested in the German champions Bayern Munich superstar, who the Bavarians have declared unsaleable. But the 1998 World Cup winner Marcel Desailly has doubts about the winger's long-term future at the club.
"He's Bayern's attacking machine. The way he uses the ball is simply incredible. And the discipline he shows within the system is impressive. "He belongs to the top class," Marcel Desailly enthused about Bayern's Michael Olise on the sidelines of the Laureus World Sports Awards in Madrid, when asked about him.
The winger, who joined Munich in the
summer of 2024 when they acquired him from
Crystal Palace, is
"in a special class," added the 1998 World Cup winner from France:
"He's young, let's wait and see how the World Cup goes. I don't know the details of the contract. His talent is so great, maybe he'll go to the Premier League. They want the best. He's one of the best."
Bayern determined to keep him
Bayern's management are said to be determined to keep Olise at their club. But Desailly is unsure whether Bayern can continue to rely on the services of the exceptional talent, who has a contract with the Seebener Strasse until 2029 with no release clause.
“I’m not sure if he will stay at Bayern Munich for long,” said the 57-year-old former international full-back, expressing slight doubts about whether Bayern’s recent veto on a transfer could last in the long term.
“That’s one of the reasons I was particularly looking forward to working at Bayern: to be able to say here, ‘I’m not selling a player.’ "I had to do that at Gladbach and also at Leipzig," Max Eberl recently told Absolut Bayern, adding when asked: "He has a contract until 2029 - I don't need to say anything more about that." This season, the 24-year-old Olise has scored 18 goals and provided 29 assists in 44 official matches for Bayern.
