Ballon d`Or 2025: Dembele and Yamal, great favourites
The favourite for this year’s award is the French international midfielder, Ousmane Dembele, who had an outstanding season and led Paris Saint-Germain and also Lamine Yamal.
This year's ceremony is just around the corner (22/9, 20:40) and the editor-in-chief of the magazine that has been giving the award for decades (68th time) mentioned the criteria by which the winner was chosen and emphasized that only he knows who the "chosen one" is, despite what is being leaked.
We may be in full swing in all the European championships, but the minds of many are also on Monday night (22/9). The reason, of course, is the "Golden Ball" award ceremony that will take place shortly after 20:30) at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.
Dembele and Yamal…
The favourite for this year’s award is the French international midfielder or free forward, Ousmane Dembele, who had an outstanding season and led Paris Saint-Germain on their way to a domestic double and the first Champions League in their history, with 35 goals and 16 assists in 53 appearances (including the Club World Cup). Of course, there is also... Lamine Yamal.
The anxiety and... bets for this year's winner are giving and taking (-as it is written by many media that Dembele is the winner) however the editor-in-chief of France Football, the magazine that is responsible for and also created this top competition in 1955 for the awarding of the most important award in the world at an individual level (Greece is represented by Manos Staramopoulos), gave his own perspective
"Various things are said, but only I know the winner and I will keep it a secret until then", said Vincent Garcia, who also mentioned the criteria, based on which the best football player in the world for 2025 was selected!
"The criteria for the winner are individual performance, with decisive and impressive performances, the titles won, but also Fair play, behavior on and off the field."
Just a little patience and we will learn this year's big winner and the winner!
