Young Pedri shined against France
Pedri put in a great performance against France in UEFA Nations League semis.
Pedro Gonzalez Lopez, better known as Pedri, as he grows older, he matures and improves. He gets better day by day. And he proves it in a big way. Whether with his team Barcelona, or with the Spanish national team of which he is a key member. Pedri, who began his career in the Las Palmas academies and then was promoted to the professional team in 2019. Barcelona, who spotted him, moved quickly and acquired him for just 5 million euros on September 5, 2019. His transfer became effective in July 2020. By May 2021, he had made 50 appearances with the main team and was the second youngest to reach this milestone.
Pedri (born 25/11/2002) made his debut for the Spanish national team in
March 2021. He was a member of the Spanish squad at Euro 2020 and 2024 and the 2022 World Cup. In the 2020 tournament, he became the youngest player to play in the knockout stages of a European Championship, at the age of 18 years and 215 days. He was named the tournament's best young player and was the only Spaniard to be included in the tournament's best team.
De la Fuente puts him in a new role
Against the French national team, Pedri, who was now playing at least in Barcelona as a playmaker, was decided by his national coach Luis de la Fuente to change his position. He brought him back a little, allowing Mikel Merino to play a little further forward. And Pedri began to organize the game of the Spanish national team which once again had one of its best nights., And of course on Sunday in Munich he will be present at the Nations League final against Portugal (he had defeated Germany 2-1).
Pedri shone against France. The current World Cup finalist and with several European champions Paris Saint-Germain in its ranks. As well as Kylian Mbappe and the rest of its stars. In fact, Mbappe is a fact that he gave his best in the hope of qualifying for the final of France but did not succeed.
So Pedri, who won La Liga, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup with Barcelona and this Sunday, can defend its title against Portugal. And all this because the Spanish national team, after an excellent and exciting game, prevailed in the second semi-final 5-4 over France. And Pedri shone once again….
