"The pinnacle of my career" says Jurgen Klopp

Klopp has been unveiled as the new head coach of the German national team with a contract running until 2030.

The Jurgen Klopp era at the helm of the German national team has begun. With all due solemnity on Friday (24/7), the German Football Association announced that the 59-year-old Klopp will be the new national coach and then proceeded to his official presentation in the interview given in Frankfurt.

So the big moment that the fans of the German national team have been waiting impatiently for days has arrived, with Jurgen Klopp succeeding Julian Nagelsmann in the representative group of his country and becoming the 13th national coach of the Manschaft.

The agreement between the DFB and the former coach of Liverpool, Dortmund and Mainz had been closed for some time. And on Friday (24/7) the most formal form was given, signing a contract until 2030, while his partners will be Peter Krawietz, Pepin Leinders and Sven Bender.

“The national team can unite us Germans like almost nothing else. That is exactly what makes this project so special for me. I am grateful for everything I have experienced and learned at Red Bull over the past year and a half, and for making this agreement possible.

Now I am looking forward to this special project in German football, which we will approach together with humility and patience: to develop a team that fights for each other, that enjoys football and behind which the people of our country can rally with absolute conviction,” stressed Jurgen Klopp in a written statement after the deal was formalized.

Per Mertesacker

Meanwhile, the German Football Association has appointed former international centre-back Per Mertesacker (a member of the 2014 World Cup-winning Germany team) as sporting director. The 41-year-old Mertesacker will succeed Andreas Retich and has signed a contract until the 2030 World Cup.

Finally, it should be noted that Jurgen Klopp will soon be on the road to the Greek national team, as the two teams are in the same group (2nd) of League A of the UEFA Nations League.

The first meeting of the two teams is scheduled for Sunday, September 27 in Augsburg, Germany, while a few days later Greece will welcome Germany at home, on Sunday, October 4.

Matthaus

“This is the Jurgen Klopp we know. The new national team coach said a lot of encouraging things in his introductory press conference. He thought of everything and was extremely well prepared,” Matthaus explained in his column for “Sky”.
