Rodri will continue his career at Barcelona
Rodri signs a contract until 2030, after the agreement between Barcelona and Manchester City for his signing
Barcelona succeeded in its 3rd attempt. It came to an agreement with the management of Manchester City and the captain of the World Champion Spanish national team,
Rodri, will continue his career in their team. The two teams came to an agreement and so the 30-year-old Spanish midfielder is heading to
Barcelona.
Barcelona's last offer exceeded 60,000,000 euros, but the Citizens had refused, as they had demands approaching 80,000,000 euros. The Catalans raised their offer, which was finally accepted by the management of Manchester City.
From the first moment, Rodri was an ally of the Blaugrana, as it was his desire to transfer to Barcelona. For this reason, the Catalans were optimistic about the outcome of the case. Rodri was essentially the driving force behind his move. After all, from the very beginning he had made it clear that he would not renew his contract with Manchester City and had given absolute priority to Barcelona.
It is noteworthy that a few weeks ago he also had an offer in his hands from Real Madrid, which had been accepted. However, things eventually changed with the involvement of his teammates, but mainly the sporting director Deco and the German coach Hansi Flick of the Blaugrana. With lightning-fast moves, they managed to agree on personal terms and proceed with the transfer, although the total cost of the transaction has not yet been revealed.
City had acquired him from Atletico in 2019 for 70 million euros. The former Ballon d'Or winner has 298 appearances for Manchester City, scoring 28 goals and providing 32 assists. Of course, we must not forget that this year too, Rodri will be among the main contenders for the "Ballon d'Or", the greatest and noblest individual award in the world.
