In 1971, with the arrival of Tommaso Maestrelli on the bench, Wilson became one of the leaders of that Lazio known as the "Maestrelli band", a team of character that in 1974 won the first Scudetto in the club's history.

Born in Darlington, England, on October 27, 1945, Wilson moved to Naples, his mother's hometown, with his family since childhood. He began to play in Internapoli, where Giorgio Chinaglia was in attack and with Chinaglia in 1969 he moved to Lazio.


Considered one of the strongest defenders of his generation, with the Biancoceleste shirt he played 324 games with 6 goals, holding the record for appearances with Lazio for a long time. He played free, playing the role in a modern way and contributing to the setting of the game.

Wilson wore the Lazio shirt until 1980, except for one parenthesis, in 1978 when he played in the United States with Chinaglia in Cosmos, then returned to Italy, again with Lazio. In 1983 a last professional championship with the Canadians of Inter Montreal. Involved in the Totonero affair together with teammates Cacciatori, Giordano and Manfredonia, he was disqualified from sports justice for three years and rehabilitated in 1982.
