The ex italian legend so far shows that he is doing better than expected
Juventus starts as it should. Five goals against Novara by Mr Banchieri who had conceded four from Turin and the same number from Milan, but scored one for the grenade and two for the «Rossoneri», with whom he even took the lead 2-0 (2-2 at half-time).
Serie C team full of young people with excellent prospects, like Barbieri, who went to Juventus a few days ago. In the season just ended, and always with Banchieri on the bench, Novara reached the play-off semifinal lost, despite a pole in the final, with Reggiana, then promoted to B.
All this to say that he was not just any opponent and that scoring a lot, suffering almost nothing, is obviously merit.
It is true that the first half ended only 1-0, but it is equally true that the starting midfield, that is with Arthur and Bentancur in the middle, as seen in the second half, when Portanova, author of two goals, also shone. Pirlo alternated the three-man defence (Danilo, Bonucci, Chiellini) with the 4-4-2, in which the fourth left was Ramsey, while Alex Sandro climbed low.
On the other hand, Cuadrado with Kulusevki and Cristiano Ronaldo at the top. In practice, Juve set the manoeuvre with three central and two wingers who went (Cuadrado and Alex Sandro), in midfield, however, Ramsey, McKennie and Rabiot acted.
The most positive
In my opinion, the American was the most positive in the role of central in front of the defence, demonstrating that he not only knows how to win back the ball (the thing he does best), but also to open (therefore play long) and phrasing (play short ).
Kulusevski’s performance was also very good, despite being a top player, a role not exactly his. From a combination of Cuadrado-Rabiot and, above all, Ronaldo and Kulusevski were born the goal of the first advantage.
Ronaldo, in addition to scoring, is fine and on the ball. He would have deserved another scoring, but a couple of his shots went out or were neutralized by goalkeeper Lanni.
Many changes, according to custom, in the second half. Juve initially restarted with Buffon – Danilo, Demiral, Alex Sandro- Cuadrado, Bentancur, Arthur, Ramsey, Pellegrini- Pjaca and Douglas Costa.
Then inside also Rugani, De Sciglio, Nicolussi Caviglia and Portanova. Douglas Costa inspired both Ramsey’s and Pjaca’s goals. His performance would have been judged more generously if he hadn’t missed the first four balls of his game if he hadn’t been stubborn in shooting from afar (three all-out) and if he hadn’t tried to mock opponents with tightrope walking.
Novara, who had started the game surprising the Juventus defence in a couple of circumstances, also appeared in the opponent’s area in the second half, but the shots were easy prey for Buffon. On the other hand, Portanova touched three balls and scored two goals.
The first with a nice diagonal, the second deviating from two steps a shot by Nicolussi Caviglia, served by Pellegrini. Speaking of the former Cagliari full-back, we have finally seen a credible alternative to Alex Sandro.
Perhaps he has not yet completed his parable of knowledge regarding the defensive phase, but he certainly pushes with strength, ownership and continuity.
So how is Juventus in the first and only reliable friendly match when there are seven days left to start the championship? Better than I thought also for a variety of solutions. Ramsey, for example, remains a modest player, but if he gets behind the strikers, he shortens the field for insertions and increases the chances of finishing.
The others must all be reviewed and a centre forward must be inserted. With Luis Suarez – but I still prefer Edin Dzeko even though the Uruguayan is the best ever – this Juventus can withstand the assault of Inter. But this time, before the field, the answers are expected from the market.
